The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented that Libyan citizen Milad Hassan Milad Al‑Jahideri was subjected to arbitrary arrest, torture, and ill‑treatment following his detention by members of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Zliten Security Directorate on 9 May 2026.
According to CFJ’s documentation, he was held for two days before being released without the filing of an official report or being presented before the Public Prosecution, in violation of legal procedures governing detention.
Information further indicates that during his detention, he was subjected to threats, torture, and ill‑treatment, in incidents that raise serious concerns regarding violations linked to detention outside the framework of the law and the abuse of authority.
The Committee for Justice stated that these practices constitute a serious violation of legal safeguards and human rights, particularly with regard to the prohibition of torture, arbitrary detention, and enforced disappearance.
CFJ calls for an urgent and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the incident, accountability for all those responsible for the violations, and the adoption of measures to prevent the recurrence of such practices, while ensuring respect for the rule of law.
