Egypt: Committee for Justice Documents the Death of Political Detainee Sayed Zaki Sayed Salem Inside Badr Prison

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the death of political detainee Sayed Zaki Sayed Salem, a resident of Fayoum Governorate, inside Badr Prison Complex on Friday, 28 August 2026, following a severe deterioration in his health condition.

According to available information, Sayed Zaki had been detained for several years. His health reportedly deteriorated while in custody before he passed away inside the Badr Prison Complex.

With this case, the number of deaths documented by the Committee for Justice since the beginning of 2026 inside prisons and detention facilities in Egypt has risen to 47 deaths, following the documentation of 60 deaths during 2025.
