Egypt: Committee for Justice Documents the Death of Political Detainee Ahmed El‑Sayed Abdel Wahed Inside Badr Medical Center

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the death of elderly political detainee Ahmed El‑Sayed Abdel Wahed, aged 82, inside Badr Medical Center, after nearly seven years in detention, following a severe deterioration in his health condition.

According to available information, Abdel Wahed had been suffering from kidney cancer and severe heart failure before his condition worsened significantly, leading to a complete coma. He subsequently died while receiving care at Badr Medical Center.

With this case, the number of deaths documented by the Committee for Justice since the beginning of 2026 inside prisons and detention facilities in Egypt has risen to 46 deaths, following the documentation of 60 deaths during 2025.
