Sudan: The CFJ Affirms Solidarity with Family of Human Rights Lawyer Khalid Al-Sadiq, Calls for Clarification of His Fate and Immediate Release

Less than 1 minute

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has reported that the family of Sudanese lawyer and human rights defender Khalid Umar Al-Sadiq Ali, known as Khalid Abu Al-Rous (61 years old), has launched a new appeal seeking urgent action to secure his release or clarify his fate following his enforced disappearance at the hands of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia over three months ago.

Al-Sadiq was abducted from outside his home in Khartoum 3 on December 22, 2024, where he had lived for many years. He was taken to an unknown location without any explanation regarding the reasons for his arrest or the authority responsible. To this day, his family has received no official information about his fate or whereabouts, amid growing fears for his physical, health, and psychological condition.

Khalid suffers from diabetes and requires regular medical care and medication. Additionally, he constantly wears glasses and is unable to see without them, making his detention under unknown and likely harsh conditions even more dangerous.

For its part, the CFJ affirms solidarity with Al-Sadiq’s family and calls on the Rapid Support Forces militia to immediately clarify his fate and release him unconditionally without delay.
