Sudan: Committee for Justice Documents a Widespread Arrest Campaign in West Kordofan and Calls for Disclosure of Detainees’ Fate

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented a widespread arrest campaign carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city of Ghebeish, West Kordofan State, targeting dozens of civilians following the attack on Ghebeish market last week.

According to CFJ’s documentation, the arrests included a number of civilians, among them Al‑Fateh Abdelrahman Abdallah Wad Allah and Al‑Sadiq Mohamed Saleh Abdallah Wad Allah, amid accusations related to espionage and providing coordinates to the Sudanese Armed Forces.

CFJ noted that some detainees had previously been subjected to violations and abuse during earlier periods of detention, raising serious concerns regarding their physical and psychological safety, particularly in light of their continued detention and the lack of information regarding their whereabouts.

The Committee for Justice stated that these practices fall within a recurring pattern of arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearance in conflict‑affected areas, alongside increasing reports of ill‑treatment and torture inside detention facilities.

CFJ calls for the immediate disclosure of the fate of all detainees, ensuring their safety and legal rights, ending arrest campaigns carried out outside the framework of the law, and respecting legal and humanitarian standards related to the protection of civilians during armed conflict.
