The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the renewal of protests by approximately 3,700 workers employed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, amid the continued non-payment of their salaries for several years despite their ongoing work within various sectors and departments affiliated with the Ministry.

According to CFJ’s documentation, the workers organized a protest vigil followed by a march on foot that began from the Seed Administration Directorate in Giza Governorate, passing through Cairo University and the Dokki area. Participants chanted slogans demanding an end to the crisis, including “Five years is enough,” referring to the prolonged deprivation of wages despite their continued assignment to carry out official duties.

Available information indicates that many of the workers continue to perform their duties at their respective workplaces and remain subject to administrative supervision and accountability, despite not receiving their financial entitlements. Some have also obtained judicial rulings and appointment decisions that have yet to be reflected in their financial status.

The Committee for Justice emphasized that the right to receive wages in return for work performed is a fundamental right protected under national legislation and international labor standards. CFJ calls on the relevant authorities to urgently address the workers’ situation, ensure the payment of their outstanding financial entitlements, and implement the judicial rulings and administrative decisions issued in their favor, in a manner that respects labor rights and prevents further escalation of the crisis.
