Reading Time: Less than 1 minute Minutes

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the arrest of three activists and members of civil committees in the city of El Daein, the capital of East Darfur State, namely Hamdan Hasouba, Al‑Sadiq Kasheib, and Bakhit Al‑Sayir, by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in connection with their participation in protests and their opposition to the conversion of the Al‑Zareiba transportation terminal into commercial units.

According to information documented by CFJ, RSF forces arrested Al‑Sadiq Kasheib and Bakhit Al‑Sayir after they protested ongoing construction works in the western section of the terminal. Media activist Hamdan Hasouba was reportedly arrested one day earlier in connection with posts published on his Facebook account addressing alleged corruption related to the project.

The Committee for Justice calls for the immediate and unconditional release of the three activists, the disclosure of the reasons and legal basis for their detention, and guarantees for their safety and protection from any form of abuse or degrading treatment.

CFJ further urges respect for the rights to freedom of opinion and expression and peaceful assembly, in accordance with applicable human rights standards and legal guarantees.
