Press Release
The “Committee for Justice” (CFJ) has monitored the continued enforced disappearance of five Egyptian citizens from the same family for over six months, following their arbitrary detention by Egyptian National Security forces on May 27.
CFJ stated that family members were arrested from Cairo and Alexandria Governorates and have not been presented to any official investigative body to date, in clear violation of both Egyptian and international law.
– Incident details:
Egyptian security forces arrested Nasser Abd El-Moneim Abd El-Naeem (62) at his workplace in Cairo Governorate. Simultaneously, forces in Alexandria Governorate detained his wife Amal Abd El-Salam Ibrahim Hassan (59), their daughter Reham Nasser Abd El-Moneim, Amal’s sister Ghada Abd El-Salam Ibrahim (52), and Ghada’s husband Wael Abd El-Razzaq Mohamed Nassar (41).
According to CFJ, the whereabouts of the detainees remain unknown, and their lawyers have been denied access to them, constituting a blatant violation of their right to legal protection.
– Demands to disclose the fate of the disappeared:
CFJ calls on Egyptian authorities to reveal the fate and locations of the five disappeared individuals and to release them immediately and unconditionally, or present them to official investigative bodies if there are legal charges against them. The committee also emphasizes ensuring that any trial meets internationally recognized standards for fairness.
CFJ holds Egyptian authorities, especially the National Security Agency, fully responsible for the safety of the disappeared individuals and demands independent and transparent investigations into these violations.
