The Committee for Justice stressed that targeting civilians or exposing them to death while moving between locations constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, which obliges parties to armed conflict to protect civilians and refrain from targeting them or endangering their lives.
CFJ calls for an independent and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the incident, accountability for those responsible, and the adoption of all necessary measures to protect civilians and ensure the safety of transportation routes. The Committee also urges all parties to the conflict to comply with the rules of international humanitarian law and to end violations targeting civilian populations.
