The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the dismissal of four doctors from Social Security Hospital in the city of El Obeid, North Kordofan State, on 4 October 2026, reportedly in connection with their participation in a strike calling for increased salaries and improved working conditions.
According to information documented by CFJ, a medical source stated that the hospital’s director issued the dismissal decision on the grounds of the doctors’ participation in the strike. The same source reported that security personnel forcibly removed the doctors from the hospital in order to implement the decision.
The Committee for Justice stresses that healthcare professionals have the right to advocate for their professional, economic, and workplace rights through peaceful and lawful means, and that any measures affecting their employment status should comply with clear legal and administrative standards that safeguard due process.
CFJ calls for guaranteeing the professional and legal rights of the dismissed doctors, respecting the right of healthcare workers to seek improvements in salaries and working conditions, and ensuring that any disciplinary measures are subject to fair and transparent procedures, including the right to defense and appeal.
The Committee further urges the relevant authorities and hospital administration to resolve the dispute through institutional dialogue and negotiation, in a manner that protects the rights of healthcare workers while ensuring the uninterrupted provision of medical services to patients.
Finally, CFJ emphasizes that addressing the concerns of healthcare professionals through constructive engagement and fair labor practices is essential to maintaining a stable healthcare system and supporting the delivery of quality medical care, particularly in areas affected by ongoing conflict and economic challenges.
