The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has monitored the assassination of human rights lawyer Hassan Barakat by the “Rapid Support Forces” militias in Al-Jazira State. The committee clarified that Barakat was abducted from the “Al-Baqir Al-Warani” area in the Al-Kamlin locality before being brutally killed.
CFJ noted that this crime represents a flagrant violation of human rights and marks a dangerous escalation of violence in the region.
CFJ condemns the incident and calls for an impartial and transparent investigation to uncover all the details surrounding the case and ensure those responsible are held accountable. CFJ also urges urgent steps to prevent the perpetrators from escaping justice, emphasizing that such crimes must not go unpunished, especially amid the increasing violations against human rights defenders in Sudan.
