Press release
Geneva – August 11, 2024
The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has reported the death of media activist Ibrahim Abdullah, known as “Showtime,” after a shell struck his home in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan.
Abdullah was known for his active coverage of the December Revolution that led to the ousting of former president Omar al-Bashir, using live broadcasts on various social media platforms.
CFJ has condemned Abdullah’s killing and is calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. CFJ demands accountability for those responsible for the shelling that targeted civilian homes. Furthermore, the committee urges both parties in the Sudanese conflict to protect civilians from the horrors of war.
