The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented a protest organized by employees of the General Electricity Company in front of the Government headquarters on Al‑Sikka Road in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, demanding the payment of their delayed salaries.
According to CFJ’s documentation, protesters expressed their dissatisfaction over the delay in disbursing their financial entitlements, warning of escalatory measures that may include work stoppages and potential power outages if their demands are not met.
The Committee for Justice stated that these protests reflect the growing economic pressures faced by employees and workers, and underscore the importance of ensuring the timely payment of salaries as a fundamental right, contributing to the stability of vital public services.
CFJ calls on the relevant authorities to respond to the legitimate demands of the workers and address the causes behind salary delays, in a manner that ensures the continuity of public facilities and prevents disruptions to essential services for citizens.
