Geneva – March 31, 2024

Hundreds of engineers affiliated with the Alexandria Construction Company staged a protest on March 27th outside the company’s office in the “Madineti” district, New Cairo, demanding wage increases and improved healthcare benefits.

Simultaneously, another group of engineers from the same company gathered at the “Celia” and “Noor” projects in the New Administrative Capital, echoing the demands of their counterparts in New Cairo.

Responding to the outcry, the company’s management invited the protesting engineers to a meeting to discuss their demands. This led to a temporary suspension of protests until the end of the month. However, the engineers warned of escalating measures if their demands were unmet.

The Alexandria Construction Company, a prominent real estate entity under the “Talaat Moustafa” Group, has witnessed several protests from its workforce across various sectors throughout the month, all advocating for wage increases and improved services.

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) reiterated its solidarity with the engineers. It urged the Ministry of Labor to intervene to support their legitimate and lawful demands, emphasizing the cessation of business support at the expense of hardworking employees.
