Egypt: Committee for Justice Documents the Death of Political Detainee Sayed Kamel Haddad Inside Minya Liman Prison

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the death of political detainee Sayed Kamel Haddad (52 years old), a resident of the Agouza district in Cairo Governorate, inside Minya Liman Prison, following a heart attack that led to a deterioration in his health condition.

According to CFJ’s documentation, the detainee’s health condition worsened during the night before he was later transferred, where his death was subsequently announced. Sayed Kamel Haddad had been detained in connection with the case publicly known as the “Giza Cell” case.

With this case, the number of deaths documented by the Committee for Justice since the beginning of 2026 inside prisons and detention facilities in Egypt has risen to 27 deaths, following the documentation of 60 deaths during 2025.
