Egypt: CFJ Rejects Dismissal of Nine Workers by T&C Garment Company in Al-Obour for Participating in a Strike

Less than 1 minute Reading Time: Minutes

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has monitored the actions of “T&C” Garments Company in Al-Obour, which, on Tuesday, February 4, prevented nine of its workers—who had been released by the Al-Khanka Misdemeanor Court—from returning to work and ordered their expulsion from the company.

This decision came in response to their participation in a strike demanding improved financial conditions, based on an administrative decision to suspend them from work.

For their part, the nine workers refused to sign the suspension order issued on February 3, stating that they intend to file a complaint with the labor office to claim their rights.

Earlier, on January 29, the Al-Khanka Misdemeanor Appeals Court had ordered the release of the nine workers on bail in case No. 264 of 2025 (Al-Obour First Administrative), in which they were accused of inciting unrest, striking, encouraging workers to protest, and harming the company’s interests.

CFJ firmly rejects these arbitrary measures against the nine workers and calls on the company’s management to reverse them, reinstate the workers in their jobs, or compensate them for the financial and moral damage caused by their dismissal. The committee also urges the Egyptian Ministry of Manpower to intervene to stop the deliberate targeting of workers for their participation in the strike and to enforce labor laws.
