Press Release

The “Committee for Justice” (CFJ) has documented the arrest of journalist and satirical writer Sayed Saber by Egyptian National Security forces on the evening of Tuesday, November 26.

The committee reported that Saber was taken for questioning and brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution, which ordered his detention pending investigations under ambiguous circumstances that have yet to be disclosed.

CFJ noted that it has been unable to ascertain the reasons for Saber’s arrest or the nature of the charges against him. It emphasized that this incident is not an isolated one, highlighting repeated violations targeting journalists and activists in Egypt in recent times.

CFJ calls on Egyptian authorities to release Sayed Saber immediately and unconditionally, cease arbitrary actions against him, and urges relevant entities to respect freedom of expression and ensure journalists can carry out their duties without fear of persecution or unwarranted detention.
