As part of its continuous monitoring of the legal developments related to key human rights cases in Egypt, the Committee for Justice (CFJ) has released its weekly bulletin summarizing updates on major cases. The bulletin, published via its political case agenda, was designed to facilitate access to information on the dates of hearings and the latest developments in human rights cases in a simplified format. The updates for the period from January 18 to 23, 2025, are as follows:
1- Case Name: Specialized Committees in Fifth Settlement
Date: Saturday, January 18, 2025
Location: Court Complex at Badr Prisons Complex
Details: The First Terrorism Circuit, headed by Judge Mohammed Al-Saeed Al-Shorbini, decided to adjourn the trial of 61 defendants, including 18 in custody, in Case No. 9644 of 2024 Fifth Settlement, commonly referred to as the “Specialized Committees in Fifth Settlement Case,” to April 5 to hear witnesses.
2- Case Name: Sinai ISIS
Date: Saturday, January 18, 2025
Location: Court Complex at Badr Prisons Complex
Details: The First Circuit of the Court of First Instance, presided over by Judge Mohammed Al-Saeed Al-Shorbini, adjourned the trial of 37 defendants in Case No. 38 of 2023 State Security Criminal Court, known as the “Sinai ISIS Cell,” to April 5 for further pleadings.
3- Case Name: Beheira Cell
Date: Sunday, January 19, 2025
Location: Court Complex at Badr Prisons Complex
Details: The First Circuit Criminal Court of First Instance, led by Judge Mohammed Al-Saeed Al-Shorbini, decided to adjourn the trial of 21 defendants accused of being members of the terrorist group known as the “Beheira Cell” in Case No. 374 of 2024 High State Security Criminal Court, to February 15 for the presence of the defendants from detention.
4- Case Name: Revolution Guards
Date: Sunday, January 19, 2025
Location: Court Complex at Badr Prisons Complex
Details: The Court of First Instance, chaired by Judge Mohammed Al-Saeed Al-Shorbini, postponed the retrial of Abdel Hamid Maher Abdel Hamid, accused of leading and heading a terrorist group, known as the “Revolution Guards,” to February 17 for the defendant’s presence from detention.
5- Case Name: Hazemon Group – Marg Cell
Date: Monday, January 20, 2025
Location: Court Complex at Badr Prisons Complex
Details: The First Circuit of the Criminal Court of First Instance, presided over by Judge Mohammed Al-Saeed Al-Shorbini, reserved the retrial of three defendants accused of joining the “Hazemon Group” for a ruling on May 17.
6- Case Name: Islamic Front Organization
Date: Monday, January 20, 2025
Location: Court Complex at Badr Prisons Complex
Details: The First Circuit of the Criminal Court of First Instance, led by Judge Mohammed Al-Saeed Al-Shorbini, postponed the trial of three defendants—one of whom is a housewife—in the case known as the “Islamic Front Organization,” Case No. 1320 of 2024 Fifth Settlement Criminal Court, registered as No. 52 of 2024 High State Security Criminal Court, to April 6 for further pleadings.
