Press Release
The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the Federal Ministry of Health’s suspension of Ezz El-Dine Dahab, Director of Media and Public Relations at the National Medical Supplies Fund, from his duties and referral for investigation.
The decision stems from Dahab’s participation in a press conference organized by the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (TAQADUM) during his time in Entebbe, Uganda.
In response, the Sudanese Journalists’ Union issued a statement condemning the Ministry of Health’s actions, rejecting the decision in its entirety. The union described the suspension as a blatant violation of press freedoms and the rights of media professionals, categorizing the move as a purely political measure aimed at silencing dissenting voices.
CFJ expresses full solidarity with journalist Ezz El-Dine Dahab, opposes these arbitrary measures, and calls for their immediate cancellation and his unconditional return to work.
CFJ further emphasizes the importance of ensuring a conducive environment for human rights defenders and journalists to perform their duties freely and safely, without facing threats or political harassment. The committee also warns against the misuse of administrative penalties as a tool for settling political scores.
