The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has condemned the arbitrary arrest of Sudanese journalist Ahmed Youssef Al-Tay by security authorities in the city of Al-Dindir, Sennar State, southeast Sudan, on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
The committee stated that journalist Al-Tay was detained without any legal justification or charges being brought against him. He was subsequently transferred to the city of Sinja in what CFJ described as a blatant violation of human rights and press freedom.
CFJ expressed full solidarity with journalist Ahmed Youssef Al-Tay, stressing the need for his immediate and unconditional release. The committee calls on Sudanese authorities to cease targeting journalists and restricting their work, urges them to provide a safe environment that allows journalists to carry out their duties freely and independently.
