Sudan: Arrest of Dr. Muhammad Talab by Sudanese Army … The CFJ Demands His Immediate Release and an End to Targeting Him

Less than 1 minute Reading Time: Minutes

Forces affiliated with what is known as the “Security Cell,” which is itself affiliated with the Sudanese army, arrested Dr. Muhammad Talab in Al-Ma’ilaq city, Al-Jazeera state, since July 2, 2025, and he remains detained to this day without any legal justification.

Professional sources reported that the arrest was carried out without any clear charges or proper legal procedures, and the authorities have prevented Dr. Muhammad Talab from communicating with his family or accessing his basic legal rights.

It should be noted that this is not the first time Dr. Muhammad Talaq has been subjected to arrest; he was previously detained twice by Rapid Support Forces militias during their control over the area.

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) holds the parties responsible for the arrest fully accountable for Dr. Talab’s physical and psychological safety, affirming that targeting civilian personnel constitutes part of a systematic and deliberate pattern aimed at undermining humanitarian work and eroding the basic rights of citizens in Sudan.

The CFJ strongly condemns this arbitrary arrest and demands the immediate and unconditional release of Dr. Muhammad Talab, as well as holding accountable all those involved in his detention outside the framework of the law and preventing impunity.
