Details: The Second Criminal Court of First Instance, presided over by Judge Wagdy Abdel Moneim, decided to adjourn the trial of 73 defendants in the case known in the media as the “Tagammu’ Cell” to March 24, 2025, to ensure the presence of one of the detained defendants.

Case Name: Officer Wael Tahoun’s Murder – Nozha Qualitative Operations Committees

Details: The Second Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Wagdy Abdel Moneim, decided to adjourn the trial of 41 defendants in Case No. 1430 of 2018, Supreme State Security, registered as Case No. 1149 of 2024, Criminal Court of Nozha. This case, known in the media as the “Nozha Qualitative Operations Committees,” involves attempts to bomb the Heliopolis Court and the Nozha Post Office. The trial was postponed to March 22, 2025, to hear prosecution witnesses.

Case Name: Lebanon Square Events

Details: The Second Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Wagdy Abdel Moneim, issued its verdict in the retrial of Islam Mohamed Ahmed, who was accused of protesting, inciting riots, and possessing birdshot and fireworks. He was the second defendant in the referral order for Case No. 22739 of 2014, Criminal Court of Agouza, known in the media as the “Lebanon Square Events” case. The court sentenced the defendant to five years of rigorous imprisonment. Notably, he had previously received a five-year in absentia sentence on April 7, 2016, with confiscation of the seized items.

Case Name: “Tiran and Sanafir” Misinformation Case – Abu al-Fotouh
Date: Tuesday, February 25, 2025
Location: Courts Complex, Badr Prison Compound
Details: The Second Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Wagdy Abdel Moneim, issued its verdict in the retrial of defendant Ahmed Yasser Ali Abdel Hafiz, the 24th defendant in the referral order, accused of spreading false news regarding the Tiran and Sanafir Islands Agreement. The court sentenced him to ten years of rigorous imprisonment, confiscated all seized items, and ordered him to bear court expenses. The court also placed the convicted defendant under police surveillance for five years and classified the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, listing the defendant among the terrorists in accordance with Law No. 8 of 2015 on terrorist entities. Notably, he had previously been sentenced to life imprisonment in this case and was also placed under police surveillance for five years.
