Reading Time: Less than 1 minute Minutes

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the arrest of Mahdi Fadel Hamed, Bilal Ahmed Bilal, Mousa Ali Mousa, and Mohamed Al‑Bashir Mohamed by a force affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Sodari area of North Kordofan State, where they reportedly remained in detention for 17 days, according to available information.

According to testimonies obtained by CFJ, the four young men were subjected during their detention to torture and degrading treatment. The information further indicates that they were able to escape following events that occurred in the Sharshar area. The incident has raised concerns regarding the violations faced by civilians in conflict-affected regions.

The Committee for Justice stresses that allegations of torture, ill-treatment, and arbitrary detention require prompt, independent, and impartial investigation, and that those responsible for such violations must be held accountable in accordance with applicable legal standards.

CFJ calls for the opening of an independent and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the detention of the four young men and the abuses they allegedly endured, as well as the identification and prosecution of all those responsible.

The Committee further calls for ensuring that the victims receive the protection, medical and psychological support, and assistance they may require, and for guaranteeing their right to effective remedy and redress for any harm suffered.
