The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the death of Mohamed Alaa El‑Din Abdel Azim, aged 64, inside Minya Maximum Security Prison, following years of detention and a deterioration in his health condition.
According to available information, Abdel Azim had been detained since 2018. His health reportedly worsened during his period of incarceration before his death was announced inside the prison.
With this case, the number of deaths documented by the Committee for Justice since the beginning of 2026 inside prisons and detention facilities in Egypt has risen to 48 deaths, following the documentation of 60 deaths during 2025.
