The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the killing and injury of a number of civilians as a result of drone attacks in Blue Nile State and Darfur on 21 and 22 July 2026, amid the continuation of hostilities and the growing toll on civilian populations.
According to information documented by CFJ, a strike targeting a gathering of displaced persons in the Qoz Al‑Dahish area of Al‑Tadamun locality in Blue Nile State resulted in the killing of three civilians, including two children, and the injury of a woman and a young girl. Circulated video footage also showed injuries among women and children, in addition to other civilian casualties reported in areas of Darfur as a result of attacks attributed to parties to the conflict.
The attack on the displaced persons’ gathering in Qoz Al‑Dahish was attributed to a drone operated by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), while local reports indicated that at least eight civilians were killed and others injured in drone attacks attributed to both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in parts of Blue Nile and Darfur.
The Committee for Justice stresses that targeting civilians or exposing them to the dangers of attack during armed conflict constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law, which requires all parties to the conflict to adhere to the principles of distinction, proportionality, and precaution in order to protect civilian populations.
CFJ calls for independent and transparent investigations into all incidents that resulted in civilian casualties, accountability for those responsible, and the adoption of all necessary measures to protect civilians and prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
