Banjul, The Gambia — The Committee for Justice (CFJ) organized a meeting between the United Nations Special Rapporteur on minority issues, Prof. Nicolas Levrat, and Sudanese civil society organizations on the margins of the 87th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) in Banjul, The Gambia.

The meeting was convened in light of the Special Rapporteur’s presence in Banjul to participate in the 87th Ordinary Session of the ACHPR, creating an important opportunity for direct engagement between the mandate and Sudanese civil society organizations working on minority rights, protection, accountability, and the broader human rights situation in Sudan.

The meeting provided a closed and focused space for Sudanese organizations to brief the Special Rapporteur on urgent protection concerns facing minority communities in Sudan, particularly in the context of the ongoing armed conflict and the expanding patterns of violence, discrimination, and impunity affecting civilians across the country.
