The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the arrest of Sudanese journalist Munir Al-Turki by the Sudanese Intelligence Service from his home in Nouri area, Northern State, on Friday, May 10, 2025, without providing any reason or charging him with an official offense, before releasing him after approximately 48 hours of arbitrary detention.
The committee confirmed that these arbitrary measures fall within a broader pattern of attempts to suppress freedom of expression in Sudan, aimed at intimidating journalists and media workers and preventing them from performing their professional duties safely and effectively.
The CFJ expressed grave concern over these violations against journalist Munir Al-Turki and the continued impunity enjoyed by those responsible. The committee called for an immediate end to the targeting of Al-Turki and for a safe and enabling environment to be guaranteed for him to carry out his journalistic work.
