Less than 1 minute Reading Time: Minutes

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the killing of Ahmed Mohamed Saleh Sidna, Director of the Radio Sector at the State Broadcasting Corporation in North Darfur, on Monday, April 14, 2025, and the young broadcaster Mohamed Al-Fatih Abbas on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, following random shelling that hit El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.

According to local sources, Abbas was directly targeted while at his workplace by artillery fire launched by armed forces on residential neighborhoods, resulting in his death and injuring several other staff members and civilians in the city.

Sources also indicated that there were no military sites near the location where Sidna was killed, which could constitute a potential war crime.

The CFJ condemns the killing of journalists Sidna and Abbas, and calls for an impartial, transparent, and timely investigation into the circumstances of the shelling that targeted areas with civilian presence, identifying those responsible and preventing them from evading justice.
