Geneva – February 11, 2024

The Committee for Justice (CFJ has monitored the referral of the administration of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Tunis (known as the Faculty of April 9), student activist, student rights defender, and member of the General Union of Tunisian Students, Rayan Ben Rehouma, to a disciplinary board.

The CFJ explained that “Rayan” was referred to a disciplinary board because of his posts and critical opinions, which was a step towards depriving him of his various rights.

CFJ condemns the decision to refer Rayyan to a disciplinary board because of his views whatsoever and calls on the college administration to stop this decision and its implications.

CFJ also stresses the need for the Tunisian authorities to stop targeting student activists because of their opinions while providing a suitable and safe environment to practice their legitimate and peaceful student work.
