Case Name: The Maaz El-Sharqawi Forgery Cell
Date: June 24, 2025

Details: The Second Criminal Circuit, First Instance, held at the Badr Court Complex and chaired by Judge Wajdi Abdel Monem, issued its verdict in the trial of 19 defendants charged with joining a terrorist organization, financing terrorism, and forging official documents to achieve terrorist objectives—commonly known as the “Forgery Cell of Al-Marg.”
The court sentenced 11 defendants to life imprisonment, six to fifteen-year terms of aggravated imprisonment, and one defendant to ten years. The criminal case against defendant Amr Moussa Abdel Majeed Badawi was dismissed due to his death. The court also ordered all convicted individuals to be placed on the terror list, and reaffirmed that the Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist entity under Law No. 8 of 2015 on Terrorist Entities and Individuals. In addition, the court ruled that all convicts shall remain under police surveillance for five years following the completion of their sentences.
