The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the killing of the medical director of “Um Kadada” Hospital in North Darfur state, Sudan, Dr. Nour Eldin Adam Abdelshafee, by forces affiliated with the Rapid Support Militia, inside his workplace on Friday, April 11.
It is worth noting that the city of “Um Kadada” witnessed a violent attack by the Rapid Support Militia on Thursday, April 10, targeting medical and humanitarian facilities as well as civilians.
The CFJ condemns the crime that claimed the life of Dr. Nour Eldin Adam Abdelshafee and demands an urgent, impartial, and transparent investigation into the incident aimed at identifying those responsible for this heinous crime and ensuring they are brought to justice without delay or impunity.
The CFJ affirms that the absence of accountability for such crimes encourages their recurrence, deepening the suffering of civilians and threatening civil peace in Sudan. The committee calls on UN mechanisms and international entities with influence over the warring parties in Sudan to take immediate action to put an end to these ongoing violations and establish a mechanism to protect doctors and humanitarian workers.
