The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has organized an online workshop this week on digital safety, targeting a group of Sudanese human rights defenders who work to monitor and document violations in Sudan.

This workshop was part of the CFJ’s efforts to promote digital rights and empower human rights activists with the necessary skills to protect their digital rights and information security, especially amid increasing challenges they face in a complex and insecure digital environment.

The workshop included interactive sessions covering several key topics, including a comprehensive introduction to the concept of digital safety and its importance, as well as an explanation of privacy and digital rights as an integral part of human rights.

The workshop also focused on teaching participants how to use the internet safely, identify various digital risks such as cyberattacks and digital surveillance, and learn protection mechanisms against these threats.

Additionally, the workshop provided an overview of digital safety protocols for individuals and organizations to enhance awareness of digital security. It highlighted globally recognized data protection standards, such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The workshop included an open discussion session (Q&A), where participants shared their experiences regarding the challenges they face in the field of digital safety and proposed practical solutions to overcome them.
