The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has confirmed the killing of media photographer Sheikh Al-Samani Saad al-Din Musa Abdullah on the morning of May 18, 2025, as a result of a drone strike carried out by the Rapid Support Forces militia targeting a Sudan Shield Forces camp, while he was covering a media event in the Jabal Al-Abaitur area in central Batana.

Field sources reported that the Rapid Support Forces’ drone directly attacked the camp, resulting in the martyrdom of seven military personnel and the injury of 14 others, in addition to the death of journalist Al-Samani, who was carrying out his professional duty documenting the event.

The CFJ condemns this incident and calls for an immediate and independent investigation to uncover its circumstances, identify those responsible, and ensure they are held accountable. The committee also stresses the necessity of providing a safe and secure environment for media workers and journalists to perform their professional duties safely and effectively.
