The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has condemned the trial of the detained Sudanese teacher and unionist, Mansour Yousef Shokr Allah, before Al-Sukhi Court, over charges carrying punishments as severe as the death penalty, including serious legal articles such as “criminal complicity,” “inciting war against the state,” “collaboration with an enemy state,” and “supporting terrorist organizations.”
The CFJ stated that these grave accusations are being used as a means to intimidate civilians and activists, silencing their voices, and should not be pursued in this manner amid the collapse of legal institutions and the absence of the rule of law in the country.
The CFJ calls for the immediate and unconditional release of “Shokr Allah,” or at the very least, guarantees a trial fully compliant with internationally recognized standards of fair trial, including the right to defense, impartiality, and freedom from political or military pressures. It warns against the dangers of using criminal laws to terrorize civilians and activists and suppress freedoms.
