The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has revealed the killing of human rights lawyer Ahmed Flij on Friday, 28 May 2025, in Al-Salha area of the city of Omdurman, at the hands of an armed group affiliated with the Special Operations Battalions — a military force fighting within the alliance supporting the Sudanese Armed Forces.
The CFJ affirms its condemnation of this incident, which constitutes an extrajudicial killing and highlights the severity of the systematic escalation targeting legal and human rights professionals, in the complete absence of oversight and total lack of accountability mechanisms in Sudan.
The CFJ calls for an independent and transparent investigation into the incident, holds the perpetrators and those behind them accountable, prevents impunity, and takes necessary measures to protect lawyers and human rights workers from any future attacks.
