The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the killing of the humanitarian activist and leader of “Etash” camp for displaced persons north of the city of Nyala, El-Sayd Abd El-Razak, and his son Abd El-Wahid, on Saturday morning, May 3, 2025, by unknown armed individuals.
According to eyewitness accounts, three unidentified armed men started a fight near Abd El-Razak’s house. When he came out to intervene and stop the altercation, they opened fire on him and his son, killing the son immediately. Abd El-Razak was taken to hospital, where he later died from his injuries, while others were wounded in the attack.
The incident comes after Abd El-Razak attempted to implement measures aimed at curbing lawlessness within the displaced persons camp and restoring security conditions inside the camp.
For its part, The CFJ condemns the killing of Abd El-Razak and his son, and calls for an impartial and transparent investigation into the incident. It also urges the warring parties in Sudan to spare civilians and displaced persons from the horrors of the ongoing conflict.
