The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the killing of several civilians, including three medical professionals, following a drone strike that targeted Al‑Jabalain Hospital on 2 April 2026, in an attack reflecting the escalating targeting of medical facilities in conflict‑affected areas.
According to CFJ’s documentation, the attack resulted in the killing of Dr. Hamed Suleiman, the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Qisma Mohamed Fadlallah, and Dr. Ilham Hamed, in addition to five other civilians identified as: Ibrahim Hamed, Abed Mokhtar, Afaf Nouh, Abdallah Mokhtar, and Ibrahim Hamed Bishara.
CFJ noted that the strike targeted a healthcare facility, leading to the loss of civilian lives and medical personnel amid an already deteriorating humanitarian situation in the area.
The Committee stressed that targeting medical facilities and healthcare workers constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, which affords special protection to medical units and personnel during armed conflicts.
The Committee for Justice calls for an urgent, independent investigation into the attack on Al‑Jabalain Hospital and for holding those responsible fully accountable. CFJ also urges all parties to the conflict to ensure the protection of medical facilities and healthcare workers and to refrain from targeting them under any circumstances.
