The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the killing of pediatric specialist Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Ali Al‑Siddiq, a physician at Nyala Teaching Hospital, after he was violently attacked inside his home in the Al‑Mazard neighborhood of Nyala, South Darfur. The incident has heightened concerns over the escalating targeting of civilians and medical workers in the region.
According to CFJ’s findings, the attack was carried out by individuals affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The doctor was subjected to a severe assault that resulted in fatal injuries inside his home, despite his continued commitment to providing humanitarian medical care amid the deteriorating security situation in the city.
CFJ noted that the incident reflects a recurring pattern of violations affecting civilians—including healthcare workers—against the backdrop of worsening insecurity and the absence of adequate protection, particularly in conflict‑affected areas.
The Committee stressed that targeting medical personnel constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, which obligates all parties to protect medical workers and ensure their safety during armed conflict. CFJ warned that such incidents underscore the dangerous escalation of violations in the absence of accountability.
The Committee for Justice calls for an urgent investigation into the killing of Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Ali Al‑Siddiq and for holding those responsible fully accountable. CFJ also urges the adoption of immediate measures to ensure the protection of civilians and medical staff and to put an end to recurring violations that continue to worsen the humanitarian situation.
