Sudan: Committee for Justice Documents Killing of Four Medical Staff and Shutdown of Three Hospitals in Dilling Due to Shelling

Less than 1 minute

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the killing of four medical personnel and the injury of three others in the city of Dilling, South Kordofan State, as a result of shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Al-Hilu Movement targeting key healthcare facilities, which led to three hospitals going out of service.

According to CFJ, the affected hospitals include: the Military Medical Corps facility, the main Health Insurance Center, and Dilling Teaching Hospital. This forced patients to rely on limited facilities with scarce resources to provide emergency services, amid a severe shortage of medical staff and supplies.

The Committee noted that the shelling caused the suspension of vital departments, exacerbating civilian suffering and reducing the capacity to deliver basic healthcare. CFJ stressed that targeting medical facilities constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and puts the lives of patients and medical staff at direct risk.

CFJ calls on the international community and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to protect healthcare facilities in Dilling, ensure the delivery of medical and logistical aid, stop attacks on hospitals and treatment centers, and hold those responsible for these grave violations accountable.
