The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented serious warnings regarding the humanitarian and security situation in the city of Dilling, in South Kordofan State, amid ongoing heavy artillery shelling carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement‑North (SPLM‑N). These attacks have resulted in near‑daily deaths and injuries among civilians.
According to field medical testimonies, the continuous bombardment is causing an increasing number of casualties; however, it remains impossible to determine an accurate count due to the complete shutdown of telecommunications networks inside the city. This isolation has severely disrupted communication with medical and humanitarian teams operating on the ground, effectively cutting Dilling off from its surrounding areas.
CFJ also documented acute shortages of food and essential supplies as a result of the ongoing blockade imposed on the city. This has intensified the suffering of civilians—particularly children, the elderly, and the sick—amid severe shortages of medical supplies and significant obstacles to delivering humanitarian assistance.
CFJ stressed that the continuation of bombardment and siege, coupled with the communication blackout, constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, increases the risks facing civilians, and obstructs the documentation of violations as well as the delivery of urgent medical and humanitarian response.
The committee called for an immediate halt to all shelling operations, the lifting of the siege on Dilling, the restoration of telecommunications services, and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian and medical aid. CFJ emphasized the necessity of ensuring the protection of civilians and shielding them from military operations.
