The Committee for Justice (CFJ) condemns the abduction and enforced disappearance of six girls from Fagousa Village, located south of Dilling in the Nuba Mountains region of South Kordofan State—an incident that raises deep concern regarding the safety of civilians, particularly women and girls, in conflict‑affected areas.
According to CFJ’s documentation, the girls were abducted several days ago from within the village and taken to areas believed to be under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), triggering widespread fear and anxiety among local residents.
CFJ noted that the relevant parties have refrained from publicly disclosing the names of the abducted girls as a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring their safety, amid fears they may face further violations during their captivity.
The Committee stressed that the abduction of civilian women constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, and falls within the category of abuses that endanger the physical and psychological integrity of civilians. International norms strictly prohibit kidnapping and unlawful detention, particularly in the context of armed conflicts.
CFJ calls for the immediate disclosure of the fate and whereabouts of the abducted girls and for guaranteeing their physical and psychological safety. The organization further demands their immediate and unconditional release, accountability for those responsible, and urgent measures to protect civilians—especially women and girls—from violations in conflict zones.
