Sudan: Committee for Justice Condemns Killing of Civilians, Including Teachers, in Drone Strikes on Shukairi Village in White Nile State

Less than 1 minute Reading Time: Minutes

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) condemns the killing and injury of several civilians following drone strikes that targeted Shukairi Village, located in Al‑Duweim locality in White Nile State, Sudan, on 11 March 2026. The attack resulted in multiple civilian casualties, including several teachers.

According to CFJ’s documentation, two drones—believed to belong to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—carried out strikes on the village and its school, killing 16 civilians and injuring others with varying degrees of severity. Initial information indicates that among the deceased were four teachers, in addition to other civilian victims, including women.

Sources reported that the attack struck a residential area and an educational facility within the village, causing widespread panic and significant loss of life among residents, amid ongoing armed conflict and the heightened risks faced by civilians across different parts of the country.

CFJ stressed that targeting villages and civilian facilities—including schools—constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, which strictly prohibits attacks on civilians and civilian objects, and obligates all parties to the conflict to take all feasible precautions to protect civilian lives.

The Committee for Justice calls for an urgent, independent, and transparent investigation into the drone strike on Shukairi Village in White Nile State, with full disclosure of the circumstances and accountability for those responsible. CFJ further urges all parties to the conflict in Sudan to immediately cease targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure and to fully comply with international humanitarian law to ensure the protection of the civilian population.
