The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has monitored the arrest of journalist Abu Aqla Mohamed Amassa by Sudanese military intelligence in Shendi, River Nile State, on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
The Sudanese Journalists’ Syndicate has announced a rise in violations against journalists, with over 40 journalists, including five female journalists, being arrested, detained, or stopped by military intelligence, the Rapid Support Forces, and other unknown entities.
CFJ condemns the arrest of journalist Amassa and calls on the Sudanese military to ensure his safety and release him immediately without any conditions.
CFJ also urges an end to the targeting of journalists for their professional work and demands the creation of a safe environment for them to carry out their legitimate and peaceful activities.
