Press Release

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has monitored the death of pharmacist and humanitarian activist, Moataz Sanada Mohammed Sanada, who passed away in the detention of the Rapid Support Forces militia. His death was revealed on Friday, September 20, 2024.

According to a statement from the Sudan Doctors Network, Sanada was abducted from his home in the Al-Manshiya area of Khartoum and arbitrarily detained for several months, during which he was subjected to torture at a facility under the control of the “Rapid Support Forces.” This torture ultimately led to his death.

CFJ strongly condemns this crime, describing it as a blatant violation of fundamental human rights, and calls for a neutral and independent investigation into the circumstances of Sanada’s death. CFJ believes that such incidents must not go unpunished and stresses the importance of holding the perpetrators accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

CFJ also emphasizes the urgent need to end the culture of impunity in Sudan, which only encourages the repetition of such crimes.
