Press Release
The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has condemned the assassination of relief activist Ambley Mohamed Al-Daw, who was killed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Thursday, September 26, after being arrested from the village of “Al-Bardana” in Al-Dinder district.
CFJ reported that the victim had been arrested several days earlier, along with several young villagers, and taken to Al-Dinder prison, which had been converted into a private detention facility for the RSF. During his detention, Al-Daw was subjected to systematic torture, which ultimately led to his death.
The committee added that the RSF, in collaboration with local criminal gangs from the villages of “Al-Fareesh” and “Kamarab,” launched a campaign of repression and arrests targeting citizens and activists in the field of relief and humanitarian aid since their occupation of the area. These militias reportedly targeted citizens based on ethnic and tribal affiliations, exacerbating the humanitarian and security situation in the region.
CFJ strongly condemned the incident and the arbitrary arrests of civilians, calling for comprehensive and transparent investigations into the circumstances of these violations. CFJ urged the immediate cessation of arbitrary arrests against civilians and the protection of people from the horrors of war and persecution. CFJ emphasized the need to bring those responsible for these crimes to justice and hold all perpetrators of these violations against innocent people accountable, ensuring that they do not escape punishment.
