Press Release
The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has observed a rise in human rights violations in the city of Abu Jubeiha, South Kordofan State, Sudan, where the security apparatus affiliated with the Sudanese army arrested Ahmed Nasr Al-Tijani, known as “Khabir,” and Alaa Al-Din Hassan.
Al-Tijani was initially arrested after criticizing the conduct of the security forces in the city, where he objected to the harassment of a doctor and the threat to shut down the “Saba” organization, which provides essential healthcare services to Abu Jubeiha Hospital.
After his release, Al-Tijani was forced to report daily to the security offices for several hours. When Alaa Al-Din Hassan posted on Facebook criticizing these practices against his colleague, he was also arrested, continuing the trend of repressing freedom of expression.
CFJ condemns these arbitrary arrests of activists, stating that such practices are reminiscent of Sudan’s dictatorship under Bashir. CFJ calls for the immediate release of the detainees, an end to the targeting of activists, and the creation of a safe environment that allows them to carry out their peaceful and legitimate work.
