Sudan: CFJ condemns army intelligence arrest of activist Talab Al-Khateem in Al-Obied, demands his immediate release

Sudanese army intelligence forces reportedly arrested human rights defender Talab Al-Khateem in Al-Obied, the capital of North Kordofan state, on Tuesday morning, April 16th, 2024.

According to Al-Khateem’s son, he and his father were purchasing household necessities in the Al-Batrol neighborhood market when they were apprehended by these forces and taken to an undisclosed location.

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) holds the Sudanese army responsible for the safety and life of human rights defender Talab Al-Khateem. CFJ demands his immediate and unconditional release and calls for an end to the targeting of human rights defenders. They emphasize the importance of providing a conducive

environment for these individuals to carry out their peaceful and legitimate activities aimed at protecting and upholding human rights.
