Egypt: The CFJ Documents New Arbitrary Measures by Management of “Samanoud Spinning and Weaving Co,” Calls for Urgent Intervention to Protect Workers’ Rights

Less than 1 minute Reading Time: Minutes

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented new arbitrary actions within Samanoud Spinning and Weaving Company, where management removed the financial director from his position without legal justification or official procedures, following his refusal to participate in a live broadcast showing support for the board chairman, Saad Abdel Basset, as part of a publicity campaign aimed at refuting rumors of his resignation.

The CFJ pointed out that the decision was executed suddenly by the managing director without following formal procedures — constituting clear administrative abuse and raising serious concerns about discipline and transparency within the company.

The CFJ also noted that company management appointed an individual with no university qualifications as head of branch warehouses solely due to his proximity to the board chairman, ignoring qualified and highly credentialed employees, thus confirming the prevalence of favoritism and deep-rooted administrative corruption within the company.

The CFJ strongly condemned these repressive and retaliatory practices that disregard workers’ rights and established administrative regulations, calling for the cancellation of the issued decisions and a comprehensive review of the company’s administrative structure in accordance with professional and legal standards.

Additionally, the CFJ urgs the enforcement of minimum wage laws, serious attention to workers’ demands, and positive engagement with their concerns, alongside immediate intervention from the Ministry of Labor to safeguard workers’ rights and stop administrative violations.
