The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the death of political detainee Ahmed Mahmoud Mohamed Said, aged 48, inside Giza Public Prison (known as “Kilo 10.5”) on the afternoon of Saturday, November 8, 2025.
According to CFJ, Said, a self-employed worker and resident of Nahia village in Kerdasa district, Giza Governorate, suffered a severe health deterioration due to deliberate medical neglect and denial of essential treatment after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Prison authorities reportedly refused to transfer him to a specialized center for chemotherapy.
Hours after his death, his family was notified, and the body was moved to Al-Qasr Al-Aini morgue before being buried in the family cemetery in Nahia, Kerdasa, Giza.
CFJ strongly condemns the deliberate medical negligence by Giza Prison authorities that led to Said’s death. The committee holds Egyptian authorities fully responsible for the incident and calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of his death, accountability for those responsible, and measures to prevent impunity.
