Less than 1 minute

The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) issued a press statement on June 24, 2025, condemning the acts of violence that have occurred between communities in the Republic of Chad, and expressing deep concern over the recent escalation of tensions among local groups, which has resulted in significant human and material losses.

The Commission emphasized in its statement the necessity of respecting human rights and the rule of law when dealing with such crises, calling on all concerned parties to exercise restraint and avoid any escalation that could worsen the humanitarian and social situation in the country.

The statement also stressed the importance of promoting community dialogue and resolving conflicts through peaceful means, noting the Commission’s readiness to provide the necessary support to enhance stability and protect civilians in Chad.

This statement comes amid rising tensions between various tribes and social groups across different regions of the country, raising concerns about a potential deterioration of the security situation if swift and effective measures are not taken to restore calm.
